DO YOU TRUST YOUR BODY? Discover more about mindfulness, awareness and intention in this interview!
Sigal is a master teacher trainer of pilates, she’s the director of Nekudat Isun (Balance Point) Pilates Studio in Israel.
How was that you fell in love with the Pilates Method?
My way to the pilates was affected by a personal injury, I learned how to use the body, I learned how to regain my trust in the body and the movement. This is my way of teaching and regain the trust after injury and trauma to their body.
Teach more mindfulness, awareness and intention through our body. The real principle of movement that I am adopting in life and teaching is BREATHING.
How the breathing affects the muscle system, the brain, the way of thinking, the way of feeling, the way of using the body.
How do you teach the body mind connection and breathing to someone that is just coming to Pilates?
I explain first the breathing and how inhalation exhalation works, how it is important to the blood flow, improving movement by trying to move in different inhalation and exhalation and to teach how the muscles are involved in the breathing system.
How do you think Pilates changes the way of living? What are the best results you see in your students?
The exercises are a way to teach how muscles work, how they combined support the trunk structure. By learning flexion, extension, side bending, rotation, affect the daily movement. Knowing the muscles involved in extension improve your posture, improve your alignment. The thing that I teach the most is being aware on where the movement is coming from, to understand and to be aware of it when you are moving.
